PERSONALITY
OF INDOOR AREAS
Casa San Grato is a place where traditional and modern styles blend in perfect harmony with a range of natural hues and bright colours. Our ultimate aim is to offer absolute comfort, but also to bestow a specific feel to the interiors that combines refinement with classic style.
The living and dining areas – featuring large windows that let in abundant natural light – look out over the surrounding valley to as far as the eye can see, contrasting with the sparkling colours of the pool. On the opposite side, the spacious kitchen with a detailed design to satisfy every culinary desire, is remarkable for its range of practical facilities.
The bedrooms of the villa, painted in delicate tones, envelop guests in a warm, inviting embrace that encourages regenerative rest. Each room is named after a fine wine, celebrating the prestigious winemaking traditions of Piedmont and deepening the villa’s connection to its territory. To ensure privacy and maximum comfort, every room is equipped with its own en-suite bathroom.
THE WONDERLAND
GARDEN
The outdoor areas of Casa San Grato, conceived as an inclusive space to engage guests of all ages with a wide variety of needs, extend a warm invitation to enjoy tranquil moments of peace and quiet, though equally susceptible to be a breeding ground of brilliant ideas.
The little ones can enjoy a play area designed especially for them, complete with a slide; the more active ones have their own special space for storing bikes, a covered area for table tennis and table football; those with a taste for food can choose between a wood-fired oven and a gas-fired barbecue for preparing some succulent delicacies.
Every activity comes to life against the backdrop of a spellbinding hillside setting: the villa stands on a panoramic viewpoint which never lets you lose sight of the stunning surrounding beauty.
THE WARMTH OF HOME
Immersed in an amazing flash of natural colours, Casa San Grato overlooks views that are timeless. Here refinement joins with the warmth of a place designed to recreate the reassuring feel of a family home.
The spacious rooms filled with light, the scent of wood and the fragrance of flowers provide a seamless extension to the energy released by the spaces outside the villa.
The courtyard can change in a flash into an echo-chamber of children’s laughter, with umpteen entertaining activities, centuries-old trees and crystal-clear waters, or of cheerful chatter under the shady pergolas and on the terraces overlooking the horizon.
Every little detail in this place instils a desire for sharing, even in an intimate and secluded setting.
CROWNING THE EXPERIENCE
Along the winding ways of the Langhe-Roero, a few surprising eye-openers still lie hidden.
Traditional shops and well-established wineries open their doors to visitors wishing to experiment with new flavours, but also to listen to the unusual tales told by the wines, cheeses and truffles and all the other goods that have been produced for centuries in these lands.
A myriad of paths for walks and mountain biking wind their way through woods and hills, sometimes meeting again in a small town or hamlet, in a relentless and congenial fusion between history and nature.
There is no end to the ways your stay can be enriched; at any moment, the villas can unleash a treasure chest full of iconic experiences, aimed at reviving a sense of wonder and curiosity and those intuitive insights that forge meaningful memories. We will be delighted to organise a private tasting session with a sommelier or an exclusive cooking class with a local chef – stopping to shop for raw materials at the market – or a wine and dine tour of Alba accompanied by an expert local guide, and any number of additional activities.
Our advice to you is to let this wild, magical corner of Piedmont open a dialogue with you and reveal your own special desires.
TRAVEL TALES
Our guests’ satisfaction is the true measure of our commitment.
This was the second time of returning to Casa SanGrato with the same group of friends – there are 15 of us. Our last visit was three years ago, but it felt like we were coming “home” and that’s how we felt throughout our stay. The house is truly delightful, extremely comfortable and tastefully furnished. Everything is very well maintained. The convenience of having 7 out of 8 bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms is absolutely priceless!
The supply of dishes, kitchenware and appliances is clearly suited to meet the needs of a large number of guests like us. Marina is a very attentive host and always on the spot when needed.
The wine cellar deserves a special mention: it is extremely well laid out and is home to a range of excellent vintages.
What a fantastic house. There were 15 of us, three generations including 6 young children/ babies and the house felt spacious and very comfortable; wonderful beds and very well-equipped bathrooms for every room. Plenty of activities for kids (and adults) including great pool, table tennis etc and also very child friendly with cots and high chairs on request and loads of plastic tableware for kids. There are wonderful touches such as the generous welcome pack and excellent restaurant recommendations all of which were great (tip – book in advance most places are small and get very busy with locals!)
There are many lovely villages nearby and both Alba and Bra are worth visiting for shopping and excellent weekly markets. Canale is the top for ice cream!
Marina and Gaby couldn’t have been nicer or more accommodating – booking wine tastings and answering loads of our queries
We are already planning our next visit!
It was the second time we enjoyed this amazing place for a professional workshop.
As the last time, contacts between the booking and until departure were proactive, kind and the team was really responsive, with everything that was really helpful to prepare the journey.
To the place itself: what a fantastic place! 8 spacious rooms with bathrooms, big dining table inside & outside, swimming pool and way more… we enjoyed every moment at this place, having a great view from the terrace and a quiet neighbourhood.
Around the house there are a lot of villages to be visited, lots of wines to taste too!
Thanks again to you Marina for renting this amazing house!
Our family spent the Christmas in Casa San Grato. What an amazing experience! It was 5 memorable days enjoying the house and the tours that Laura suggested. The kids loved the goat/cheese farm, hot air balloon, truffle hunt! And the Christmas dinner with a private chef with an exclusive menu. Laura and Marina were amazing. Thanks!
The house has absolutely everything you need. It is super clean, comfortable, well organized.
This is the perfect house in the region with a big group.
A simply outstanding experience.
The villa is stunning, and from the moment you check in you really feel at home.
The bedrooms, bathrooms, dining room and wonderful living area, as well as the garden are absolutely delightful. The house was spotlessly clean and a special round of applause to Laura who greeted us on arrival and showed unfailing courtesy and willingness to help whenever required; even when we asked for a favour on our day of departure, she duly acquiesced with a warm smile.
We only stayed for a weekend and that was the only defect – the house is so beautiful that it merits a much longer stay!!
The photos certainly do justice to the place, but seeing it in person is even more impressive. We can’t wait to go back!
